A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
3 CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. 2
TO THE PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH
4 AECOM TECHNICAL SERVICES, INC. FOR ENVIRONMENTAL
AND DESIGN SERVICES FOR THE AGUA HEDIONDA CREEK
5 CHANNEL AND CALAVERA CREEK CHANNEL DREDGING
AND IMPROVEMENT PROJECT. PROJECT NO. 3338.

WHEREAS, On December 14, 2010, the City entered into an agreement with AECOM
Technical Services, Inc. for the design, entitlement, and construction of the Agua Hedionda Creek
Channel and Calavera Creek Channel Dredging and Improvement Project in the amount of
$283,505; and
10 WHEREAS, one (1) subsequent amendment has been authorized to AECOM Technical
11 Services, Inc. in the amount of $69,444 to incorporate a current civil survey of the channels, addition
12 of rip rap drop structures in place of gabion drop structures, additional slope protection,
13 incorporation of the changes into the Hydrologic Engineering Centers River Analysis System
(HEC-RAS) Analysis to determine if there were changes to the water surface elevation that would
affect current FEMA approvals, assistance in preparation of the Environmental Assessment and
response to the Public Notice typically handled by the USACOE; and
WHEREAS, through the permitting process with the resource agencies the project design
requires revision to incorporate rip rap drop structures and rip rap slope protection and updating of the
^ ^ CEQA approvals to incorporate these changes; and
19 WHEREAS, City staff has requested an amendment to the professional services agreement
20 to provide additional design, entitlement and construction support services for the project in an amount
21 of $222,047, to be included in Amendment No. 2 with AECOM Technical Services, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, the City Council ofthe City of Carlsbad, California, has determined it necessary
and in the public interest to approve Amendment No. 2 to the agreement with AECOM Technical
Services, Inc. for the design, entitlement, and construction support of the Agua Hedionda Creek
Channel and Calavera Creek Channel Dredging and Improvement Project, Project No. 3338; and
WHEREAS, sufficient funds are currently available.
26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
California, as follows:
1 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2 2. That Amendment No. 2 to Agreement with AECOM Technical Services, Inc. in an
3 amount not-to-exceed $222,047 for additional design, entitlement and construction support services for
the Agua Hedionda Creek Channel and Calavera Creek Channel Dredging and Improvement
Project is approved and the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute said amendment.
3. That the City Manager is authorized to execute future amendments in the amount not
to exceed a total of $100,000.
