HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012-09-25; City Council; Resolution 2012-2241 RESOLUTION NO. 2012-224 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, TO APPROVE THE ONGOING ^ INSTALLATION OF ENGRAVED BRICKS AT THE SAFETY TRAINING CENTER, TO BENEFIT CARLSBAD EXPLORER POST 781 10 11 12 13 14 15 27 28 6 WHEREAS, paving bricks laser engraved with the name(s) of employees from 7 within the Police and Fire departments were incorporated into the design of the City's ^ new Safety Training Center as part of the plaza; and ^ WHEREAS, these "legacy bricks" honor current and or former members of the police and fire departments and those who have served as volunteers for either organization from 1949 to present; and WHEREAS, the legacy brick program is designed to be perpetual, so additional names may be added over time; and WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Explorer POST 781, an independent 501(c)(3) 16 organization, has launched the "legacy brick" fundraising program where profits from the 17 sale of bricks will go directly to POST 781 for use in furthering the mission of the 18 Carisbad Police and Fire Explorer programs; and 19 WHEREAS, Council has expressed support for the Carlsbad Explorer POST 781 and their fundraising activities. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carisbad, California, as follows: 1. The above recitations are true and correct. 20 21 22 23 24 25 2. The Council approves the perpetual installation of legacy bricks at the Safety 26 Training Center 6^ 1 3. That the City Manager or her designee will coordinate with Carisbad Explorer 2 POST 781 to perpetuate the legacy brick program. 4. The legacy brick program resides with Carisbad Explorer POST 781, an independent 501(c)(3) organization, and requires no City funds.
