CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING DONATION
^ FROM NRG ENERY FOR THE CONTINUED
^ ADVANCEMENT OF THE CITYSTUFF PROGRAM

WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad believes in enriching the educational experience
6
of the youth of Carlsbad about local government; and
7
WHEREAS, the CityStuff program was designed in conjunction with Junior
8
g Achievement to provide information on why cities are formed, how free enterprise and
20 governments work together and how the democratic process works at the local level;
11 and
12 WHEREAS, NRG Energy has generously printed and donated 8,500 copies of
"When Carlsbad Became a City" booklets for third graders in Carlsbad. These booklets
are an important part of the enrichment program and the students treasure having their
own copies to take home. This donation will provide a copy of the booklet for each
Carlsbad third grader for the next five years.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, California, as follows that:

20 1 • That the above recitations are true and correct.
21 2. That the City Manager or designee is authorized to accept the donation
from NRG Energy for the CityStuff program.
