HomeMy WebLinkAbout2013-02-26; City Council; Resolution 2013-050EXHIBIT 1 1 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 24 25 26 RESOLUTION NO. 2013-050 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD CALIFORNIA, APPROVING TWO GRANT 3 REQUESTS FROM CB RANCH ENTERPRISES, A SUBSIDIARY OF CARLTAS COMPANY FOR RESEARCH PROJECTS 4 INTENDED TO ENSURE THE LONG-TERM PRODUCTIVITY OF THE FLOWER FIELDS AT CARLSBAD RANCH. 5 CASE NAME: FLOWER FIELDS GRANT ALLOCATIONS WHEREAS, CB Ranch Enterprises, a subsidiary of Carltas Company as property owner and on behalf of the "Flower Fields" grower has filed a request for three grants for research conducted during the 2011-12 growing season; and WHEREAS, the first grant request is for $4,599.42 for research conducted on new herbicides targeting the clover weed; and WHEREAS, the second grant request is for $9,796.21 for research conducted on alternatives to Methyl Bromide; and WHEREAS, the third grant request if for $9,104.37 for research conducted on alternative planting formats to increase yield; and WHEREAS, the City administration fee for the grants is $2,350; and WHEREAS, staff has reviewed and recommends that each grant is consistent with the purpose stipulated in the agreement between the City and the California Coastal Conservancy and with reasonable and customary costs associated with the scope of work covered in each grant request; and WHEREAS, the City Planner has determined that the projects covered by the grant requests are categorically exempt from environmental review pursuant to §15301 (existing 2^ facilities); and WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds in the special revenue fund to fund both of the grants and the City's administrative costs. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of 2y Carlsbad, California, as follows: 28 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. 3 1 2. That the Flower Fields Grants No. 1, 2, and 3 for 2011 -12 are approved. 2 3. City Council authorizes the appropriation of $25,850 from the Flower 3 Fields Fund to pay for the grants ($23,500) and the City's administrative 4 costs ($2,350). Condition: 5 ^ 1.
