2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CAUFORNIA, ESTABUSHING INTERIM COMPENSATION FOR THE
DEPUTY CITY TREASURER

5 WHEREAS, due to the resignation of City Treasurer Jim Comstock, a vacancy In the

position of City Treasurer was declared; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 2010-198, approved by the City Council on July 27, 2010
authorized the Deputy City Treasurer to perform any duties normally performed by the City
Treasurer until an Interim City Treasurer is appointed and sworn into office; and
11 WHEREAS, Sections 41006 and 41007 of the Government Code provide that the City
12 Treasurer may appoint deputies, and that these deputies shall receive compensation as is
13
provided bythe legislative body; and
14
WHEREAS, City employee Nancy Sullivan was appointed as Deputy City Treasurer in
15
November 2004 and the City Council confirmed her status as Deputy City Treasurer on July 27,
16
2010; and
18 WHEREAS, Section 2.08.020 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code set the compensation for
19 the City Treasurer at $1,070 per month and Ms. Sullivan is currently performing the functions of
20

24 1. The above recitations are true and correct.
2^ 2. That the Deputy City Treasurer shall receive interim compensation equivalent to

the City Treasurer;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carisbad,
California, as follows that:
the salary of the City Treasurer while she Is performing the duties of the City
Treasurer.

3. That this compensation is retroactive to the first day of the pay period that
includes January 31, 2013 and shall be discontinued as of the date a new City
Treasurer is sworn into office.
4. That the expenditure of $2,470 is hereby authorized from the City Treasurer's
General Fund budget.
