A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, APPOINTING A RESIDENT AND REGISTERED VOTER

WHEREAS, a vacancy in the office of City Treasurer was created by the resignation of Jim

6 Comstock, effective January 30, 2013; and,
7 WHEREAS, the vacant term expires in November, 2014; and,
^ WHEREAS, any person holding the office of City Treasurer must be a resident and
9 ...
registered voter of Carlsbad and possess a four year college degree in finance or business
related field and four years of financial work experience; and,
WHEREAS, Carlsbad Municipal Code Section 2.04.030 requires that the City Council must
13 either appoint a qualified candidate and registered voter of the City of Carlsbad to fill the
14 vacancy or call for a special election within 60 days; and,
WHEREAS, the Council has decided to fill the vacancy by appointment; and,

WHEREAS, the appointee will serve the balance ofthe unexpired term ofthe former City
17
Treasurer until a successor is elected at the regular Municipal Election to be held on November
18
19 4,2014.
20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
21 California, as follows that
1. The above recitations are true and correct
2. That the following qualified candidate and registered voter of the City of

25 Carlsbad is hereby appointed to serve as City Treasurer until a successor is
26 elected at the regular Municipal Election to be held on November 4, 2014:

PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting ofthe City Council ofthe City
of Carlsbad on the 26^^ day of March, 2013, by the following vote to wit:
