HomeMy WebLinkAbout2013-11-05; City Council; Resolution 2013-251RESOLUTION NO. 2013-251 WHEREAS, the City Council of Carlsbad, California has determined that it is necessary, 1 2 3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING THE CONTRACT TO 4 AMERICAN ASPHALT SOUTH FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE 2013 SLURRY SEAL PROJECT NO. 6001-13-SS. 5 " 6 7 desirable, and in the public's best interest to construct the 2013 Slurry Seal Project No. 6001-13- 8 SS; and 9 WHEREAS, on June 11, 2013, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad approved plans for 10 the construction ofthe 2013 Slurry Seal Project No. 6001-13-SS; and 11 WHEREAS, seven sealed bids were received on October 8, 2013 by the City of Carlsbad 12 ^ 3 for the construction of the 2013 Slurry Seal Project No. 6001-13-SS; and 14 WHEREAS, the lowest responsive and responsible bid to construct said project was 15 submitted by American Asphalt South in the amount of $1,356,380; and 16 WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds available in the Pavement Management Program 17 to complete the project; and 18 WHEREAS, subsection 3.28.040(C)(5) of the Carlsbad Munidpal Code authorizes the 19 2Q City Manager to approve change orders in the amount equal to the contingency set at the time of 21 project award. 22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Coundl of the City of Carisbad, 23 California, as follows 24 That the above recitations are true and correct 25 " 26 27 28 3 1 2. That the low bid of $1,356,380 submitted by American Asphalt South for the ^ construction ofthe 2013 Slurry Seal Project No. 6001-13-SS is accepted and the Mayor is hereby 3 authorized to execute a contract for this project. 4 3. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to approve construction change 5 g orders up to $136,000. 7 4. That the award of this contract is contingent upon the bidder submitting the 8 lowest responsible bid executing the required contract and submitting the required bonds and g insurance policies, as described in the contract, within twenty (20) days of adoption of this 10 resolution.
