A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA,
3 ACCEPTING DONATION TOTALING $8,000 FROM CARLSBAD LIGHTNING SOCCER
CLUB IN SUPPORT OF THE OPPORTUNITY GRANTS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
^ AND APPROPRIATION OF RECEIVED FUNDS.

6 WHEREAS, Carlsbad Lightning Soccer Club hosted the Carlsbad Cup Soccer and

November Nights Tournaments in July and November 2013; and
WHEREAS, Carlsbad Lightning Soccer Club uses funds generated by these
tournaments to provide scholarships within their organization; and
WHEREAS, Carlsbad Lightning Soccer Club appreciates the relationship with the City

12 of Carlsbad and its employees in serving the Carlsbad community members; and
13 WHEREAS, Carlsbad Lightning Soccer Club wishes to donate $8,000 for use in
supporting Carlsbad children and programs that are in need; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to accept cash donation in the amount of $8,000 in
support ofthe Parks and Recreation Department Opportunity Grant Scholarship Fund; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,

20 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
That the City Council does hereby accept $8,000 in cash donation.
The Administrative Services Director is directed to appropriate the received
funds of $8,000 to the Opportunity Grant Scholarship Program.
