2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING PUBLIC
^ ARTWORK CONCEPT DESIGN FOR THE COASTAL RAIL
4 TRAIL ROUNDABOUr
5 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, has shown its
6 commitment to fostering art and culture in the community by incorporating public art into
7 its eligible civic projects; and
^ WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, identified the
Coastal Rail Trail Roundabout as one of the city's most recent civic projects to have a
public art component included as part of its construction; and
WHEREAS, the City Council ofthe City of Carlsbad, California, approved an
allocation of $100,000, which is provided for by Carlsbad Municipal Code Chapter 2.18;

23 WHEREAS, the Cultural Arts Office utilized the public arts process, conducted an
16 open competition and artist Roger Stoller was selected by the Coastal Rail Trail
17 Roundabout Public Art Committee; and
18 WHEREAS, on March 6, 2014 the Arts Commission approved the Stoller artwork
proposal and recommended the design for City Council approval.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of

Carlsbad, California, as follows:

23 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
24 2. That the proposed public artwork concept design for the Coastal Rail Trail
25 Roundabout is hereby approved

PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting ofthe City Council ofthe City
of Carlsbad on the 25th day of March 2014, by the following vote to wit:
