CALIFORNIA, APPROVING AN EXTENSION OF THE PROFESSIONAL
SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH URBAN PU\CE CONSULTING FOR

implementation ofthe Village Revitalization Partnership and approve an extension ofthe
professional services agreement with Urban Place Consulting Group to complete said project;
and
5 WHEREAS, the City Council ofthe City of Carlsbad, desires to proceed with

2Q WHEREAS, In February 2012, the City Council approved the selection of Urban Place
11 Consulting Group (Urban Place) as the partner to work with local property owners, businesses
12 and/or other stakeholders in the Village Area to develop programs, policies, financing
13
mechanisms and/or other initiatives to spur local investment and foot traffic on a self-
14
sustaining basis for the Village Area; and
15
WHEREAS, Urban Place has delivered on a number of outcomes including facilitating
16
new investment, streamlining regulation, activating the Village, developing marketing and
18 communication materials, Carlsbad Village Association organizational development and
1^ collaborating with interested parties to develop a sustainable funding source; and
WHEREAS, key metrics associated with the health and vitality ofthe Village have
improved; and

1 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council ofthe City of Carlsbad,
California, as follows that:
1. The above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the extension ofthe professional services agreement with Urban Place
Consulting Group for implementation ofthe Village Revitalization Partnership is

8 3. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute the extension of
the professional services agreement with Urban Place Consulting Group for said
Village Revitalization Partnership Program.

1 PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City
2 of Carlsbad on the 8^*^ day of April, 2014, by the following vote to wit:
