2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE CARLSBAD FIRE DEPARTMENT TO
APPLY FOR THE 2014 SAN DIEGO GAS AND ELECTRIC (SDG&E)
4 SAFE SAN DIEGO INITIATIVE COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE
TEAM (CERT) GRANT PROGRAM.

WHEREAS, San Diego Gas and Electric is accepting applications for their SAFE San Diego
Initiative supporting Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) programs; and
WHEREAS, the goal ofthis grant is to promote emergency preparedness and encourage
11 safety at home and in local neighborhoods; and
12 WHEREAS, it is the desire of Carlsbad Fire Department to participate in this program to
enhance emergency preparedness;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.

19 3. That the Fire Chief, or Fire Chief's designee, is authorized to execute any and all

documentation associated with applying for grant funding from San Diego Gas and
