CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR
CONSTRUCTION OF THE 2014 CONCRETE REPLACEMENT PROJECT

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, has determined it
necessary, desirable, and in the public interest to replace damaged concrete; and
WHEREAS, the project is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA)
pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Section 15301(c); and
WHEREAS, on April 22, 2014, the City Council approved contract documents and
specifications for furnishing of all labor, materials, tools, equipment, transportation, and other
expenses necessary or incidental to the 2014 Concrete Replacement Project No. 6013-14; and
WHEREAS, five (5) sealed bids were received on June 18, 2014 for the project; and
1-^ WHEREAS, the lowest responsive, responsible bid for the project was submitted by TRY
14 CO General Engineering in the amount of $174,207; and
15 WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds available in the Concrete Replacement Program
16 (CIP No. 6013) account for construction ofthe project.
17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
18 California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the bid submitted by TRY CO General Engineering in the amount of
$174,207 is hereby accepted and the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the contract for
the construction of the 2014 Concrete Replacement Project No. 6013-14, in accordance with
the specifications and contract documents referred to herein.
3. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to approve construction change
orders up to the contingency amount of $35,000 to TRY CO General Engineering for the 2014
Concrete Replacement, Project No. 6013-14.
1 4. That the award of this contract is contingent upon TRY CO General Engineering
2 executing the required contract and submitting the required bonds and insurance policies, as
3 described in the contract, within twenty (20) calendar days of adoption of this resolution. The
4 City Manager may grant reasonable extensions of time.
