HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014-09-09; City Council; Resolution 2014-21623 24 25 26 27 28 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2014-216 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING THE CONTRACT TO ^ AMERICAN ASPHALT SOUTH FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE 2014 4 SLURRY SEAL PROJECT NO. 6001-14SS. 5 WHEREAS, the City Council of Carlsbad, California has determined that it is necessary, 6 " J desirable, and in the public's best interest to construct the 2014 Slurry Seal Project No. 6001- 8 14SS; and 9 WHEREAS, on June 24, 2014, the City Council ofthe City of Carlsbad approved plans for the construction ofthe 2014 Slurry Seal Project No. 6001-14SS; and 11 WHEREAS, four sealed bids were received on August 19, 2014 by the City of Carlsbad for 12 the construction ofthe 2014 Slurry Seal Project No. 6001-14SS; and 13 j4 WHEREAS, the lowest responsive and responsible bid to construct said project was 15 submitted by American Asphalt South in the amount of $997,792; and 1^ WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds available in the Pavement Management Program to complete the project; and WHEREAS, subsection 3.28.040(C)(5) of the Carlsbad Municipal Code authorizes the City Manager to approve change orders in the amount equal to the contingency set at the time 17 18 19 20 21 of project award. 22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows: 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. // // 3 1 2. That the low bid of $997,792 submitted by American Asphalt South for the ^ construction ofthe 2014 Slurry Seal Project No. 6001-14SS is accepted and the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute a contract for this project. 3. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to approve construction change orders up to $230,000. 3 4 5 6 7 4. That the award of this contract is contingent upon the bidder submitting the 8 lowest responsible bid executing the required contract and submitting the required bonds and insurance policies, as described in the contract, within twenty (20) days of adoption of this 10 resolution.
