HomeMy WebLinkAbout2015-02-10; City Council; Resolution 2015-031RESOLUTION NO. 2015-031 1 2 3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING THE CONTRACT TO 4 PAL GENERAL ENGINEERING FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE PAVEMENT OVERLAY PROJECT NO. 6001-14OL 5 6 7 8 9 WHEREAS, the City Council of Carlsbad, California has determined that it is necessary, desirable, and in the public's best interest to construct the Pavement Overlay Project No. 6001- 140L; and .,0 WHEREAS, on November 18, 2014, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad approved 11 plans for the construction of the Pavement Overlay Project No. 6001-14OL; and "12 WHEREAS, eleven (11) sealed bids were received on January 7, 2015 by the City of 13 11 Carlsbad for the construction ofthe Pavement Overlay Project No. 6001-14OL; and 14 WHEREAS, the lowest responsive and responsible bid to construct said project was 15 submitted by PAL General Engineering in the amount of $1,149,871; and 16 yj WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds available in the Pavement Management Program 18 to complete the project; and "•^ WHEREAS, subsection 3.28.040(C)(5) of the Carlsbad Municipal Code authorizes the 20 City Manager to approve change orders in the amount equal to the contingency set at the time of 21 project award. 22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, 24 California, as follows: 25 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. 26 27 28 ^ 1 2. That the low bid of $1,149,871 submitted by PAL General Engineering for the ^ construction of the Pavement Overlay Project No. 6001-14OL is accepted and the Mayor is hereby 3 authorized to execute a contract for this project. 4 3. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to approve construction change 5 g orders up to $150,000. 7 4. That the award of this contract is contingent upon the bidder submitting the 8 lowest responsible bid executing the required contract and submitting the required bonds and q insurance policies, as described in the contract, within twenty (20) days of adoption of this 10 resolution.
