2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF CARLSBAD TO ENTER
INTO A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH THE CENTER
4 FOR COMMUNITY SOLUTIONS

WHEREAS, the City Council concurs that it is in the public interest to strengthen legal

7 advocacy services and other victim services for victims of sexual assault, domestic violence,
8 dating violence, and stalking; and
WHEREAS, the Center for Community Solutions (CCS) received a grant from the U.S.
Department of Justice Office of Violence Against Women to encourage arrest policies and
enforcement of protection orders program; and
WHEREAS, the CCS will use this grant to support the North County High Risk Team, who
14 will collaborate to respond to victims who are at extreme risk of lethality due to intimate
15 partner violence; and
WHEREAS, The City of Carlsbad intends to participate in the Memorandum of
Understanding with the Center for Community Solutions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
California, as follows that:

21 1. The above recitations are true and correct.
22 2. The Council approves and authorizes the Chief of Police to execute the
Memorandum of Understanding between the Center for Community Solutions and
the Carisbad Police department on behalf of the City of Carlsbad and thereby
showing the City of Carlsbad's commitment to protecting victims of sexual assault.
