CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF $365,227.08
FROM THE FLEET REPLACEMENT FUND TO PURCHASE 12 POLICE 3
4 UTILITY VEHICLES FROM DOWNTOWN FORD

^ WHEREAS, funds where previously appropriated to the Fiscal Year 2015-16 Fleet Vehicle

Replacement Fund by the Carlsbad City Council for the purchase of 12 Police utility vehicles;

and

WHEREAS, the Fleet Management Division has reviewed the overall condition,
11 maintenance history, future maintenance needs and determined it is in the best fiscal interest
12 ofthe City of Carlsbad to replace the requested vehicles; and
WHEREAS, Section 3.28.100 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code provides that the City of

Carlsbad may purchase directly from a vendor at a price established through another agency
15
when another agency has made its purchase in a competitive manner and the Purchasing
16
Officer has determined that such purchase is in the City of Carlsbad's best interest; and
18 WHEREAS, the City of Sacramento used formal bidding procedures to establish the cost
1^ of procurement of Police utility vehicles; and

24 12 Police utility vehicles in accordance with the competitively bid purchase awarded by the City
25 of Sacramento for a total cost of $365,227.08.
26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,

WHEREAS, the Purchasing Officer has determined that purchasing the vehicles through
the City of Sacramento's contract is in the City of Carlsbad's best interest; and
WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad has procured a quote from Downtown Ford to provide
California, as follows:

1 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2 2. That the City of Carlsbad Fleet Management Division is authorized to purchase
