RESOLUTION NO. 2015-286
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING THE CONTRACT TO
AMERICAN ASPHALT SOUTH FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE SLURRY
SEAL PROJECT NO. 6001-15.
WHEREAS, the City Council of Carlsbad, California has determined that it is necessary,
desirable, and in the public's best interest to construct the Slurry Seal Project No. 6001-15; and
WHEREAS, on July 28, 2015, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad approved plans for
the construction of the Slurry Seal Project No. 6001-15; and
WHEREAS, five sealed bids were received on Oct. 13, 2015 by the City of Carlsbad for
the construction of the Slurry Seal Project No. 6001-15; and
WHEREAS, the lowest responsive and responsible bid to construct said project was
submitted by American Aspha lt South in the amount of $1,506,824; and
WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds available in the Pavement Management Program
to complete the project; and
WHEREAS, subsection 3.28.040{C)(5) of the Carlsbad Municipal Code authorizes the
City Manager to approve change orders in the amount equal to the contingency set at the time
of project award.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
Ca lifornia, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the low bid of $1,506,824 submitted by American Asphalt South for the
const ruction of the Slurry Seal Project No. 6001-15 is accepted and the Mayor is hereby
authorized to execute a contract for this project.

PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council ofthe City
