HomeMy WebLinkAbout2016-01-12; City Council; Resolution 2016-0091 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 2016-009 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING THE CONTRACT TO PYRAMID BUILDING AND ENGINEERING, INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF $692,000 FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE POINSETTIA LIFT STATION STANDBY PUMP SYSTEM, PROJECT NO. 5529 EXHIBIT 1 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California has determined it necessary, desirable, and in the public interest to construct the Poinsettia Lift Station Standby Pump System; and WHEREAS, on Aug. 25, 2015, through the adoption of Resolution No. 2015-210, the City of Carlsbad City Council approved plans and specifications and authorized the City Clerk to advertise to receive bids for the Poinsettia Lift Station Standby Pump System, Project No. 5529; and WHEREAS, nine sealed bids were received on Nov. 17, 2015, by the City of Carlsbad for the construction of this project; and WHEREAS, the lowest responsive and responsible bid was submitted by Pyramid Building and Engineering, Inc. in the amount of $692,000; and WHEREAS, funds have been appropriated from the Sewer Replacement Fund and are sufficient for the completion of this project; and WHEREAS, this project is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA} per State CEQA Guidelines Section 15301(b) -Existing Facilities -operation, repair, maintenance or minor alteration to an existing sewer lift station. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows: 1. That the bid in the amount of $692,000 submitted by Pyramid Building and Engineering, Inc. for the construction of the Poinsettia Lift Station Standby Pump System, Project No. 5529, is accepted and the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Pyramid Building and Engineering, Inc. 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to approve construction change orders up to $104,000. 4. That the award of this contract is contingent upon the bidder submitting the lowest responsible bid, executing the required contract and submitting the required bonds and insurance policies, as described in the contract, within 20 days of adoption of this resolution. The City Manager may grant reasonable extensions oftime.
