RESOLUTION NO. 2016-083
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING OUT OF STATE TRAVEL FOR FIRE
DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL TO ATTEND THE HAZARD ZONE
MANAGEMENT CONFERENCE IN PHOENIX, ARIZONA ON JUNE 9-
10,2016
WHEREAS, City Council Policy Number 2 governs requests for out of state travel by
employees when such travel benefits the City of Carlsbad; and
WHEREAS, three personnel from the ranks of Battalion Chief to Captain seek
authorization to attend the Hazard Zone Management Conference. This two-day program is
designed to provide All-Hazard Incident Management instructors with updates on hazmat
command, firefighter mayday, active shooter, and response to other violent incidents. This
information will be brought back to the rest of the organization; and
WHEREAS, the City Council agrees that it is in the public's best interest to authorize out
of state travel for Fire Department personnel to attend the Hazard Zone Management
Conference on June 9-10, 2016, in Phoenix, Arizona; and
WHEREAS, the cost for three people to attend the conference, including registration,
travel, and lodging is approximately $3,300.00, and will be paid for using the Fire Department's
budget.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
California, as follows that:
1. The above recitations are true and correct.
2. In accordance with city policy, out of state travel is hereby authorized for three
Fire Department personnel from the ranks of Battalion Chief to Captain to attend
the Hazard Zone Management Conference on June 9-10, 2016, in Phoenix, Arizona.

PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City
of Carlsbad on the 3rd day of May, 2016, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Hall, Wood, Schumacher, Blackburn, Packard.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
