RESOLUTION NO. 2016-156
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, APPROVING TWO GRANT REQUESTS FROM CB RANCH
ENTERPRISES, A SUBSIDIARY OF CARLTAS COMPANY FOR
RESEARCH PROJECTS INTENDED TO ENSURE THE LONG-TERM
PRODUCTIVITY OF THE FLOWER FIELDS AT CARLSBAD RANCH.
Exhibit I
WHEREAS, CB Ranch Enterprises, a subsidiary of Carltas Company as property
owner and on behalf of the "Flower Fields" grower has filed a request for a grant for research
conducted during the 2014-15 season; and
WHEREAS, CB Ranch Enterprises is requesting a grant in the amount of $15,162
for two research projects including one conducted on new herbicides targeting clover weed and
another on expanding Ranunculus varietal selection; and
WHEREAS, the city's costs to administer the grants is $1,516; and
WHEREAS, staff has reviewed the grant request and has determined that each
research project is consistent with the purpose stipulated in the agreement between the city and
the California Coastal Conservancy with reasonable and customary costs associated with the
scope of work covered in each grant request; and
WHEREAS, the City Planner has determined that the projects covered by the grant
request are categorically exempt from environmental review pursuant to §15378; and
WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds in the special revenue fund to fund the grant
request and the city's administrative costs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
California, as follows that:
1. The above recitations are true and correct.

2. The Flower Fields Grant for 2014-15 are approved, subject the condition
that CB Ranch Enterprises submit a report to the City of Carlsbad Community & Economic
Development Department no later than June 29, 2017 detailing how each project funded with
the grant met the intended objectives.
3. The City Council authorizes the appropriation of $16,678 from the Flower
Fields Fund to pay for the grant at $15,162 and the city's administrative cost at $1,516.
