RESOLUTION NO. 2016-181
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA,ACCEPTING A FISCAL YEAR 2016-17 CASH DONATION OF
$10,460 FROM THE FRIENDS OF THE CARLSBAD LIBRARY
WHEREAS,the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California has determined that donations
from the Friends of the Carlsbad Library augment the operating budget for the Carlsbad City Library,
allowing the purchase of materials and the continuation of programs for the community that otherwise
might not be possible; and
WHEREAS,the Friends of the Carlsbad Library have donated $10,460 to the City of Carlsbad for
the Carlsbad City Library; and
WHEREAS,this donation will be used to purchase equipment and supplies for the creation of a
new Mobile Maker Space, including Chromebooks, sewing equipment and a mobile 3-D printer; and
WHEREAS,a Mobile Maker Space will expand the benefits of the new Dove Exploration HUB by
extending the lab experience into the community; and
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California,as
follows:
1.That the above recitations are true and correct.
2.That the City Council accepts the cash gift of $10,460 from the Friends of the Carlsbad
Library,in direct support of the library's programs,and hereby authorizes the
administrative services director to appropriate the received funds to the Library &
Cultural Arts Department operating budget to support the collection and programs.
PASSED,APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad on the 13th day of September, 2016, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES:Wood, Schumacher, Blackburn, Packard.
NOES:None.
ABSENT:Hall.
