RESOLUTION NO. 2016-231
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA,AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF TWO REPLACEMENT FIRE
ENGINES FROM SEAGRAVE FIRE APPARATUS,LLC FOR $1,412,795.
WHEREAS, funds in the amount of $1,530,000 were previously appropriated to the Fiscal Year
2016-17 Fleet Vehicle Replacement Fund by the Carlsbad City Council for the purchase of two
replacement fire engines; and
WHEREAS,the Fleet Committee has reviewed the overall condition, maintenance history, and
future maintenance needs and determined it is in the best fiscal interest of the City of Carlsbad to
replace the requested vehicles; and
WHEREAS, Section 3.28.100 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code provides that the City of Carlsbad
may purchase directly from a vendor at a price established through another agency when a Contract
has been bid and awarded in a competitive manner; and
WHEREAS, HGACBuy used formal bidding procedures to establish the cost of procurement of a
fire engine; and
WHEREAS,the City of Carlsbad has procured a quote from Seagrave Fire Apparatus,LLC to
provide two replacement fire engines in accordance with competitively bid contract FS12-15 through
HGACBuy for a total cost of $1,412,795; and
WHEREAS,the Purchasing Officer has determined it is in the city's best interest to enter into a
Contract with Seagrave Fire Apparatus,LLC to purchase the vehicles.
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California,as
follows:
1.That the above recitations are true and correct.
2.That the City of Carlsbad Fleet Management Division is authorized to purchase two fire
engines from Seagrave Fire Apparatus,LLC for a total cost of $1,412,795.

PASSED,APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad on the 29th day of November, 2016, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES:Hall, Wood, Schumacher, Blackburn, Packard.
