RESOLUTION NO. 2016-233
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA,ACCEPTING AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR POLICE
EQUIPMENT AND PERSONNEL COSTS THROUGH THE FISCAL YEAR 2016-
2017 STATE OF CALIFORNIA OFFICE OF TRAFFIC SAFETY SELECTIVE
TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM GRANT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, Carlsbad Police Department has been allocated funds through the Fiscal Year 2016-
2017 State of California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS)Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP)
grant; and
WHEREAS,the application for the Fiscal Year 2016-2017 State of California Office of Traffic
Safety (OTS) Selective Traffic Enforcement Program grant has been accepted and OTS is authorized to
reimburse the City of Carlsbad Police Department up to $100,000 in grant related costs ;and
WHEREAS, Carlsbad Police Department proposes to use the grant to fund personnel costs for
DUI checkpoints, DUI saturation patrols and targeted enforcement,DUI checkpoint equipment to
include traffic cones and pop-up tents and enforcement equipment to include electric flares, speed
feedback signs and new radars.
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California,as
follows:
1.That the above recitations are true and correct.
2.That the purchases specified are authorized in compliance with the grant.
3.That the City Manager of the City of Carlsbad or his designee is hereby authorized and
directed to execute said award with the State of California Office of Traffic Safety for
reimbursement of the subject grant funds,as well as any required reports and/or final
statements.
4.That the Administrative Services Director is authorized to appropriate $100,000 in the
Police Grant Special Revenue Fund for reimbursement costs associated with the Fiscal
Year 2016-2017 State of California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS)Selective Traffic
Enforcement Program (STEP)grant.

Carlsbad on the 29th day of November, 2016, by the following vote, to wit:
