HomeMy WebLinkAbout2017-03-14; City Council; Resolution 2017-046RESOLUTION NO. 2017-046 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH MALLORY SAFETY & SUPPLY FOR A FIXED AND MOBILE LICENSE PLATE RECOGNITION SYSTEM IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $807,025.20. Exhibit 1 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California has determined that it is in the public interest in the pursuit of public safety to authorize the police department to enter into a contract with Mallory Safety & Supply Company for a fixed and mobile license plate recognition (LPR) system in the amount not to exceed $807,025.20; and WHEREAS, the acquisition of fifty-one fixed LPR cameras and six mobile LPR cameras will expand the existing LPR system; and WHEREAS, the acquisition will include the programming, aiming, software installation, and training, and will include a warrant service for a period of five years; and WHEREAS, the usage of LPR cameras are part of an overall crime reduction plan to assist the police department in reducing crime and making for a safer community. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows: 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. 2. The amount of the LPR system is not to exceed $807,025.20. The Police Department will use available funds from the city innovation fund to implement the program. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Carlsbad on the 14th day of March 2017, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: NOES: ABSENT: M. Hall, K.
