HomeMy WebLinkAbout2019-05-07; City Council; Resolution 2019-062RESOLUTION NO. 2019-062 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, RECEIVING AN ANNUAL STATUS REPORT ON THE ARTS & CULTURE MASTER PLAN AND APPROVING THREE ADDITIONAL INITIATIVES OF THE ARTS & CULTURE MASTER PLAN IN FY 2019-20. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California has shown its commitment to fostering arts and culture in the community as a core value of life in Carlsbad through the previous approval of the Arts & Culture Master Plan; and WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad finds that city resources dedicated to the arts and culture will result in significant and important value to its residents, the arts and culture sector and the overall community by supporting artists and the creation of dynamic arts and cultural experiences; and, WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad recognizes the advancement of the Arts & Culture Master Plan through the development and launch of additional initiatives to support an increased level of activity; and, WHEREAS, the Cultural Arts Office will present annually to the City Council a progress report which will also identify the next set of initiatives to enact along with the resources needed to advance them. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California as follows: 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. 2. That the City Council has received an annual status report on Arts & Culture Master Plan initiatives launched in FY 2018-19. 3. That the City Council authorizes three additional initiatives from the Arts & Culture Master Plan to advance in FY2019-20 including a STEAM pilot program, increased Community Arts Grants funding and guest artist residencies. 4. That staff will incorporate associated funding for the authorized initiatives into the FY 2019-20 operating budget.
