there is an inadequate supply of water to meet the domestic and
of San Diego County; aqd
this shortage will continue and become more acute if the City
and County of San Diego continue to grow; and
WHEREAS, San Diego County’s future existence and expansion industrially
and agriculturally depend upon the Il4PORTATICXN OF WATER from outside slurces; and
TmW, the %tropolit& Water District has committed itself to build
and finance 43.5 miles of the proposed second aqueduct, bringing it to a point
5.9 miles south of the San Diego-Riverside County Line at a cost of over Twenty-
million Dollars; and
IJHEIiEAS, the most feasible way to bring Colorado River water and water
from other plentiful northern sources to San Diego County is through an aqueduct
from the Pktropolitan Water District Resemir in Riverside County;
ITOW, THEREFCIRE, RE IT RESOLVED that we, the Board of Directors of the
Carlsbad &nicipal Water %strict go on record in favor of a ~TIEtl vote on the
bond issue which will appear on the ballot at a special election on July 9, 1957,
and we further urge all citizens of this area to GO TO THE POLIS AND VOTE YES on
this vital issue which means life or death -- growth or stagnation - to our
County and District,
The foregoing Resolution numbered 60 was duly and regularly passed and
adopted at an adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Directors of the Carlsbad
Municipal Water District held on the 19th day of June, 1957 with roll call vote as
follars:
