HomeMy WebLinkAbout1962-03-20; Municipal Water District; Resolution 1551 2 3 a 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 -, 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 \q t! 29 30 31. 32 RESOLUTION NO. \ il RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT OPPOSING SALE .OF -WATER FOR RECREATIONAL PURPOSES WHEREAS the STATE DEPARTMENT OF BEACHES AND PARKS of the State of California, has applied to the DIVISION OF SMALL CRAFT HARBORS of the State of California for the sum of Seven Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars ($750, 000.00) for the purpose of purchasing water from the METROPOLITAN WATER DISTRICT to be placed in Lake Elsinore for recreational purposes, and; WHEREAS such application has been considered by the DIVISION OF SMALL CRAFT HARBORS at its meeting of December 18, 1962, and which application received the primary approval, subject to conditions, of such agency, and; WHEREAS the board of directors of the CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT is mindful of its obligation to furnish water within its boundaries for residential, agricultural and industrial uses, and; .. WHEREAS the board of directors of the CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT is entitled to a certain share of the waters imported by the METROPOLITAN WATER DISTRICT, and is further entitled to purchase certain quantities of water from the METROPOLITAN WATER DISTRICT, and; WHEREAS the entitlement of the CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT to waters from the METROPOLITAN WATER DISTRICT Would be reduced in the event that the METROPOLITAN WATER DISTRICT were to sell any of its water to the STATE DEPARTMENT OF BEACHES AND PARKS or the DIVISION OF SMALL CRAFT HARBORS, or any other governmental .. or private agency for recreational purposes, and; WHEREAS the board of directors of the CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT is mindful that its entitlement to purchase waters from the METROPOLITAN WATER DISTRICT is subject to proportional reduction for -. _. the benefit of other residential, agricultural and industrial users who are -1- . pa’ I. 2 3 4 5 6 7 e 9 1c 11 12 12 14 15 1E 17 I€ 1: 2c 23 2; 22 24 2: 26 2: 2t 2: 3( 3: 3: now, or may hereafter be entitled to the waters of the METROPOLITAN WATER DISTRICT, and; ’ WHEREAS the board of directors of the CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT is of the opinion that the use of water for residential, agricultural and industrial purposes represents a more necessary, higher .. and more beneficial use of water and that any proposed diversion of the waters of the METROPOLITAN WATER DISTRICT for recreational purposes will diminish the entitlement of the CkLSBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT to purchase water from the METROPdLITAN WATER DISTRICT,‘ and that such proposal is inimical to and contrary to the best interests of the CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT, now therefore: IT IS RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT AS FOLLOWS: _I 1. The board of directors is opposed to any sale of the waters of the METROPOLITAN WATER DISTRICT to any agency solely for recreational -. purposes. 2. That copies of this resolution shall be mailed to the METROPOLITAN WATER DISTRICT, THE SAN DIEGO COUNTY WATER AUTHORITY, THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF BEACHES AND PARKS, THE DIVISION OF SMALL CRAFT HARBORS and such other governmental agencies, including member agencies of the SAN DIEGO COUNTY WATER AUTHORITY and the METROPOLITAN WATER DISTkICT, as the acting manager of the CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT shall deem appropriate. .. I. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the board of directors of the CARLSBAD.
