HomeMy WebLinkAbout1987-08-19; Municipal Water District; Resolution 554I RESOLUTION NO. 554 RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF COSTA REAL MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT CREATING THE POSITION OF WATER EDUCATION SPECIALIST AND ADDING A JOB DESCRIPTION FOR THAT POSITION WHEREAS, the District has identified a need to infor public regarding important water issues, and WHEREAS, the District has adopted a budget which i.nclt position titled Water Education Specialist, and WHEREAS, it is necessary to amend Article 3 Section 3# Article 4 Section 4.4; and add a job description according I Exhibits attached; I NOW, THEREFORE, THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE COST3 MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT DOES HEREBY DETERMINE AND RESOLVI the Administrative Code is hereby amended in the att exhibits, to be effective August 19, 1987. Performs varied, difficult and respon technical duties related to the District's school, water cons1 tion, community relations and employee relations programs. TYPICAL DUTIES Develop and coordinate operation of program by purchasing and dj buting water education materials, training teachers to use mate1 administer the Watch Our Water! (WOW!) program, conduct clas presentations, coordinate field trips and coordinate with C Water Authority's school education program. Plan and coordinate the publicity necessary to make the public of the Model Home Education and Demonstration Project at Capri plan for the development of the District's demonstration garde landscaping at the Allan 0, Kelly Operations Center to incluc sign, educational goals and programs, publicity and communit volvement in this project, Prepare newspaper publicity, bulletins and brochures descr District's activities and services, photograph and distribute 1 of District facilities and activities to news media, prepar distribute Annual Report, prepare quarterly newsletters, schedul present speeches to community groups, organize District t schedule and set up exhibits and coordinate special events, de Public Information Advisory Council, and represent District at ( Water Authority Advisory Committee. Prepare employee orientation handbook for new employees, pr monthly employee newsletter, communicate with department hei keep apprised of employee concerns, develop employee events 1 hance employee morale and monitor employee service award progra DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduation from an accredited college or unive sity with a degree in Journalism, Communicati or related major. I Experience: Minimum of two years responsible experience the field. Knowledge and Knowledge of public relations technique Abilities: available information related to the wat I industry and ability to understand, interpr and apply policies and procedure organizational relationships and resources help the District meet its needs in this area.
