CLASS CHARACTERISTICS This is the experienced class in technical engineering work fully capable of independently performing a variety of drafting mapping, and varied engineering support work. This class i distinguished from Senior Engineering Technician, which is technical specialist, capable of performing engineering desig. work and which may provide lead direction to technical suppor staff. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES 1. Assists in plan checking of engineering constructio drawing for conformance to utility standards and specifications. 2. Performs drafting as assigned in preparation for wate mains, storage tanks, pressure relief stations and othe miscellaneous structures. I 3. Calculates angles, areas, stationing, traverses an related mathematical functions for engineering constructio' drawings and field survey; surveying experience preferred but no required. 4. Prepares project reports, cost estimates and routin memoranda and correspondence between the District and developers contractors, public agencies and other concerned parties. 5. Has experience in reading and interpreting constructio improvement drawings and plans and legal plat and descriptio easements. 6. Prepares engineering construction drawings usin computers, free lettering and mechanical lettering devices an systems. CADD experience preferred but not required. I 7. Reviews "as-built'' engineering construction drawings fo new construction , reconstruction and repairs. 8. Uses computers, calculators, drafting tools an equipment, reproduction equipment and a variety of othe engineering and office equipment in performing job duties. I 9. Provides and obtains information related to assignment form engineering staff, developers and engineers, the public an other agencies. 10. Reads and interprets regulations, contracts, plans an specifications, maps and a variety of other engineering relate information. gUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of: Principles, techniques, tools and materials used i drafting, including computer aided drafting techniques Principles and practices of civil engineering design an construction Engineering mathematics, including trigonometry Technical report writing methods and formats Office methods and procedures, including record keeping an Computer applications related to engineering support work Applicable codes, guidelines and regulations Basic surveying practices and equipment preferred but no filing required Skill in: Using drafting techniques, tools and materials to complet Making accurate engineering computations Reading and interpreting plans and specifications, maps legal property descriptions, construction drawings an related engineering documents Analyzing technical problems, evaluating alternativ solutions and adopting effective courses of action Communicating effectively orally and in writing Using a wide variety of engineering tools and equipment office equipment, computers, calculators and cop reproduction equipment complex drafting assignments Interpreting and applying regulations Coordinating several projects and meeting deadlines Establishing and maintaining effective working relationship with those encountered in the course of work -ements: Must possess a valid California driver's license. A typical way of gaining the knowledge and skills outlined is: I Equivalent to graduation from high school, includin successful completion of coursework in mechanical drawing algebra, geometry and trigonometry and three years o nical training in pre-engineering may be substituted on I experience in technical engineering work. College or tech year for year basis for up to two years of the requirec experience. I I I RECEPTIONIST I DEFINITION To operate a telephone system: greet the public and provid referrals to appropriate personnel; and perform a wide variety c general clerical duties, CLASS CHARACTERISTICS This single class position is responsible for a variety o routine tasks within the District's administrative department Employees at this level shall work under immediate supervisic while learning job tasks. The employee will subsequently k expected to perform their duties with only occasional instructic or assistance as new or unusual situations arise. EXAMPLES E DUTIES Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Operate telephone system; answer questions and inquiries mac by the public, refer callers to appropriate personnel; take ar deliver messages when necessary. I 2. Greet the public; assist if possible or refer to appropriat personnel, 3. Other duties may be added if the District becomes a locatic for various functions relating to the payment of bills and the initiation or discontinuance of water service. They mz include, but are not limited to the following: A. Accept applications for new or discontinuance of exist1 water service, B. Check water payments for accuracy; batch payments in1 predetermined groups: post payments into computer C. Balance receipts to monies: prepare bank deposits 4. Perform related duties as assigned. 9UALIFICATIONS Knowledge of: i 1. Modern office methods, practices, procedures and equipment. 2. Proper public contact and telephone conduct. 1 2. Training: Formal or informal education or training at a level which ensur the ability to read, write and perform calculations at a lev necessary for successful job performance.
