RESOLUTION NO. 1065
A RESOLUTION OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, FOR APPROVAL OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND AUTHORIZATION TO PUBLISH AN INVITATION
FOR BIDS FOR INTERSTATE 5,16-1NCH WATER PIPELINE CROSSING; CMWD PROJECT NO. 98-407. CONTRACT NO. 36591
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the Carlsbad Municipal Water District of Carlsbad,
California, has determined it is necessary and in the public interest to approve the plans and
specifications and authorization to publish an invitation for bids for the Interstate 5, 16-inch water
pipeline; CMWD Project No. 98-407, Contract No. 36591; and
WHEREAS, funds appropriated in the 1999/2000 Budget for water line improvement in the
amount of $654,380 are available; and
WHEREAS, an additional $126,000 is required to complete the waterline and an additional
appropriation is requested to be transferred from the Water Connection Fund to the 1-5 Water
Line project; and
WHEREAS, plans and specifications for Interstate 5, 16-inch water pipeline have been
prepared by the Department of Public Works-Water Division staff with a cost estimate of
$780,000, including $70,000 for construction inspection services, are on file in the Public Works
Department-Water Division Engineering; and
WHEREAS, authorization is hereby granted by the Board of Directors to publish an
Invitation to Bid in accordance with Section 3.28.080 of the Municipal Code; and
WHEREAS, the Contractor and the Board will enter into a contract for construction of the
project; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of the Carlsbad
Municipal Water District of Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the plans and specifications and cost estimate of $780,000 submitted by the
Department of Public Works-Water Division staff which are on file with Public Works Department-
Water Division Engineering are incorporated herein by reference and are accepted.

II 3. That the authorization to publish an Invitation To Bid in accordance with Section
3.28.080 of the Municipal Code be granted.
4. That the Contractor and City of Carlsbad will enter into a contract for construction of
the project.
5. That an additional appropriation of $1 26,000 be transferred from the Water Connection
Fund to the 1-5 Water Line project.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City Council
held on the 26th day of OCTOBER , 1999 by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Board Members Lewis, Hall, Finnila, Nygaard, and Kulchin
