HomeMy WebLinkAbout2000-10-03; Municipal Water District; Resolution 11045 6 7 a 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 la 19 20 21 22 23 24 26 27 28 F-- h RESOLUTION NO. 1104 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT TO APPROVE AND AUTHORIZE APPLICATION TO OBTAIN A GRANT FROM THE FEDERAL ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY FOR THE ENCINA BASIN WATER RECLAMATION PROGRAM, PHASE II PROJECT (PHASE II). WHEREAS, an appropriation from the Congress of the United States was allocated to Carlsbad for the “desalination facility” in the amount of $500,000 under Veterans Administration- Housing & Urban Development-EPA for Fiscal Year 2000 Appropriations Bill; and WHEREAS, the Phase II Project includes a portion of the treatment process for desalination of the recycled water using a combination of microfiltration and reverse osmosis equipment to maintain the total dissolved solids to less than 1,000 mg/L; and WHEREAS, staff must meet and confer with the Environmental Protection Agency to obtain approval for the $500,000 grant for the Phase II Project. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of the Carlsbad Municipal Water District (CMWD) of the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows: 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. 2. That staff is authorized to proceed with the process required by the Environmental Protection Agency to obtain a $500,000 grant for the Phase II Project. 3. That any grant contract shall be submitted to the Board of Directors for final approval prior to execution of the grant contract. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a special meeting of the Carlsbad Municipal Water District held on the 3rd day of October 9 2000 by the following vote, to wit: AYES: Council Members Lewis, Finnila, Nygaard and Kulchin 1 (SEAL)
