RESOLUTION NO. 1463
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT (CMWD),
AUTHORIZING AN INCREASE IN THE EXECUTIVE
MANAGER'S SIGNATURE AUTHORITY AND THE
CONTINGENCY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE "D1" AND
"D2" STEEL WATER TANKS INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR
COATING AND MISCELLANEOUS REPAIRS, PROJECT NO.
5024.
WHEREAS, on February 28, 2012, the Board of Directors of the Carlsbad Municipal
Water District, Carlsbad, California, through Resolution No. 1436, awarded the contract for
construction ofthe "Dl" and "D2" Interior and Exterior Coating and Miscellaneous Repairs, Project
Nos. 5024, to Advanced Industrial Services; and
WHEREAS, unforeseen conditions including extensive corrosion were discovered on the
"D2" tank in the field which require replacement of the roof rafters and beams; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined to be necessary to increase the construction
contingency for the "D1" and "D2" Interior and Exterior Coating and Miscellaneous Repairs, Project
Nos. 5024, by an amount of $134,000; and
WHEREAS, the Executive Manager was previously authorized to approve change orders
up to $66,000 and will now be authorized to approve change orders up to $200,000 for the "D1"
and "D2" Interior and Exterior Coating and Miscellaneous Repairs, Project Nos. 5024; and
WHEREAS, funds are available in the existing project budget to cover the contingency
increase of $134,000.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Carlsbad Municipal Water District Board
of the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the contingency for the "D1" and "D2" Interior and Exterior Coating and
Miscellaneous Repairs, Project Nos. 5024, is hereby increased $134,000 using available project
funds.

PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Special Meeting of the Board of
Directors of the Carlsbad Municipal Water District of the City of Carlsbad on the 29*^ day
of January 2013, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Board Members Hall, Packard, Wood, Blackburn, Douglas.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
