HomeMy WebLinkAbout2013-09-24; Municipal Water District; Resolution 1480EXHIBIT 1 1 RESOLUTION NO. 1480 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT, AUTHORIZING APPROVAL OF THE LISTING OF UNDERUTILIZED PROPERTIES AND AMENDMENT TO 4 INCLUDE MAERKLE RESERVOIR (APN 169-500-05) LOCATED IN CARLSBAD CAUFORNIA AND PAJAMA DRIVE (APN 149-070-47) 5 LOCATED IN OCEANSIDE, CAUFORNIA 6 7 WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad and the Carlsbad Municipal Water District (CMWD) each 8 own considerable portfolios of real property; and, 9 WHEREAS, due to the size and value of the real property portfolios and the changing 10 uses of such, the agencies have identified underutilized assets in an effort to increase their 11 utility to the City of Carlsbad and the CMWD; and, 12 23 WHEREAS, at a special workshop held on August 21, 2012, the City of Carisbad City 14 Council and the Carisbad Municipal Water District Board jointly considered a list of selected 1^ properties for revenue generation opportunities (referred to as the "Listing of Underutilized Properties"); and, WHEREAS, staff proposes formal approval of the Usting of Underutilized Properties; and. 16 17 18 19 20 WHEREAS, subsequent to consideration of the Listing of Underutilized Properties, two 21 additional properties were deemed to be underutilized assets that have a potential for revenue generation; and, 23 WHEREAS, the Maerkle Reservoir Expansion Property (APN 169-500-05), is 55.7 acres 24 and is owned by the CMWD; and, 25 2^ WHEREAS, the Pajama Drive Property (APN 149-070-47), is composed of 1.55 acres and 27 is owned by the CMWD; and. 28 23 24 25 26 27 28 Usting of Underutilized Properties and amending the listing to Include these two properties; and, WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Municipal Water District Board will authorize City of Carlsbad 1 WHEREAS, staff proposes identifying these properties as underutilized, approving the 2 3 4 5 ^ staff to explore other uses for these properties, including potential leasing or sale. If approved, 7 staff will evaluate options and return to the Carlsbad Municipal Water District Board with a recommendation; and, 9 10 11 12 23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Carisbad Municipal Water District Board of 14 the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows: 1. The above recitations are true and correct. WHEREAS, the potential lease revenue generated from any future lease or sale of the Maerkle Reservoir Expansion Property or the Pajama Drive Property will accrue to the Carlsbad Municipal Water District. 16 17 18 19 20 properties 2. The Carisbad Municipal Water District Board approves the Usting of Underutilized Properties and directs City of Carlsbad staff to amend the listing to include the Maerkle Reservoir Expansion Property and Pajama Drive Property as underutilized 21 3. City of Carisbad staff Is authorized by the Carisbad Municipal Water District Board 22 to explore options for maximizing the value of these two properties, including possible lease or sale.
