The report has been expanded to incll activities outside of those normally associated with the agency. I-;ENTEIOR?J, REDEVELOPMENT COOORDINATOR SUBJECT : VILLAGE AREA STATUS REPORT NO. 1 Introduction -This is the first status report prepared of a comprehensive nature regarding the Village Area revitalization effort. This report wil- address items currently beyond the scope of the Agency's formal activities, but which directly impact the Villaqe Area effort. Work Program The Agency adopted work program is progressing well. The prelimin plan phase of the program should be completed by the end of this calendar year. Current efforts are being focused on fiscal and economic analysis the concentrated study area. The outcome of this study will lclltirr impact project implementation and phasing. ' Interim Village Area Advisory Committee AI^ recently appointed committee members have been formally advise of their appointment, Staff is attempting to schedule an organizz meeting of the committee to establish a regular neeting schedule E introduce the members to the City's Village Area revitalization e: The Agency will be receiving reports on the committee's progress i it's monthly meetings. Development Inquiries Staff has been contacted by fou'r individuals interested in undert( significant development within the Village Area. This indicates ' qhere is interest in the area, although most of.it appears to be conditioned upon active pursuit of revitalization by the City/Age and community. ' Integration of Other City Prograns Staff is currently involved in an effort to identify existing and planned City programs and projects affecting the Village Area in attempt to integrate them into the revitalization program. This- provide for Comprehensive approach to revitalization, rather thar "hit or miss'' approach.. At present, staff is analyzing the possibility of incorporating 1 Block Grant funded Residential Rehabilitation Program and applici ", , ?%4? * e November 7, 1977 Page Two (2) .Y .e. i . -. 0 capital improvement projects into the total effort. In addition, the possibility of obtaining a .coastal commission categorical exclusion for the Village Area is being investigated. under Way in an attempt to deternine the applicability of their . The integration of. existing programs into the planning effol will provide the opportunity to monitor and evaluate all public activities being cor.ducted within the Village Area, thereby elimin; the potential for Conflict in the future over items such as phasinc and duplicative activities.
