RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve appointment of Jason Durbin to the Visit Carlsbad Board.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
At its l\4ay 19"*, 2009 meeting, the Carlsbad Tourism Business Improve ment District (CTBID)
board entered into an agreement with the Carisbad Convention and Visitors Bureau (dba Visit
Carisbad) to provided tourism promotion services for the CTBID for th^ period July 1,2009
through June 30,2010. A provision in this contract was that the CTBID Board had to approve
any changes to the Visit Carisbad Board.
One ofthe original Visit Carisbad Board members, Randy Nal^gawa, recently vacated his seat
on the Visit Carisbad Board. Attached is a letter from the Visit Carisba,d Board Chair, Bob Moore,
to the CTBID Boanj Vice Chair, Tim Stripe, recommending that the CTBID Board approve the
appointment of Jason Durbin from the Sheraton to fill this vacancy. I
FISCAL IMPACT:
None.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
This action does not approve any projects that will have a physical ad>ierse afTect on the
environment so it falls within the general rule under CEQA that this is not a project (CEQA
Regulation 15738 (b)).

The Board of Directors of Visit Carisbad, Carisbad's Destination Mariceting
Organization would like to put fort:h Mr. Jason Durbin, Corporate Director of
Revenue Technology & Project Management with the Sheraton Carisbad
Resort & Spa, as the replacement for the seat vacated by Mr. Randy
Nakagawa on the Visit Carisbad board of directors.
Per the agreement between the CTBID and Visit Carisbad we ask that the
CTBiD board approve Mr. DuriDin at the next CTBID meeting to be held on
