RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Receive report from Strategic Advisory Group, the consultant performing a tourism study forthe
City of Carisbad, on preliminary findings and recommendations and provide feedback and input
prior to the draft report being finalized.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The City of Carisbad and the Carisbad Tourism Business Improvement District (CTBID) have
partnered on an economic study of Carisbad's tourism industry that compares Carisbad with similar
destination cities and analyzes occupancy rates by room type, tourism marketing spending return
on investment and other tourism data that will provide strategic recommendations to improve upon
Carisbad's strengths and weaknesses. The firm Strategic Advisory Group was hired to perform
the study and have been worthing on it since April 2014. They are getting ready to issue their draft
report and wanted to get some input from the CTBID Board on some of their thoughts and
recommendations priorto the draft report being issued.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
This action does not qualify as a project under the California Environment Quality Act ("CEQA")
and will not have a physical adverse effect on the environment. (CEQA Regulation 15378(b).
