ACCEPTANCE AND NOTICE OF COMPLETION
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. /r+ accepting the Streetscape, Phase II improvements as complete and directing the City Clerk to record the Notice of Completion.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The downtown Streetscape, Phase II improvements are considered complete and ready for formal acceptance by the City. These
improvements include new curb and gutter, storm drains,
streetlights, landscaped medians, substantial street improvements, and decorative brick sidewalks consistent with the adopted Streetscape theme. A ten foot (10') high "Village of Carlsbadll entry monument was constructed under the supervision of artist James T. Hubbell at the north end of the project. More than two hundred (200) trees, numerous Victorian-style light standards, wood benches, and other fixtures were installed to transform Carlsbad Village Drive and Carlsbad Boulevard into beautiful parkways.
Staff recommends acceptance of the Streetscape Phase II improvements and requests authorization to record the Notice of Completion.

Stop Notices from suppliers and subcontractors totaling $94,847 are currently outstanding against the prime contractor. The City will hold sufficient funds on behalf of the claimants until the Stop Notices are released or the prime contractor deposits acceptable security. The City has $195,384 of the prime contractor's retention on deposit to satisfy any remaining obligations.

A RESOLUTION OF THE HOUSING AND REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE STREETSCAPE PHASE II IMPROVEMENTS, PROJECT NO. 3288
WHEREAS, the construction of the Phase II of the
Streetscape improvement project has been satisfactory completed:

WHEREAS, all project costs are established.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Housing and
Redevelopment Commission of the City of Carlsbad, California, as
follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad,
California, is hereby requested and authorized to execute the
Notice of Completion and have same recorded.
