CMWD PROJECT 87-109 RECZ)MMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No. 665 approving Change Order No. 6, Item No. 1 in the amount of $52,264.02 for construction of a line to provide sewer service to the reservoir keeper's- house to replace the failed septic system and temporary sewage holding tanks, Item No. 2 for revised grading required for construction of the pump station, Item No. 3 for installation of the valve stem riser and air valve in a vertical position as directed in Change Order No. 5 and Item No. 4 requesting a time extension for weather delays. I ITEM EXPLANATION Construction of the District's 10 million gallon Maerkle Resewoir is currently underway. The request for approval of Change Order No. 6 are as follows: Item No. 1 - Extend the 6" sewer line approximately 800 1.f. and connect to an existing 6" stub out constructed as a portion of Leisure Village Oceanside, Unit No. 6. Sewer line to be constructed in accordance with the contract documents. The agreed lump sum includes 798+ of 6" PVC pipeline and two manholes. Construction of this line is required to provide sewerage service to the reservoir keeper's house and will replace the failed septic system and temporary sewage holding tanks. The total cost of Item No. 1 including labor, equipment, materials and shoring would amount to $22,684.20. Item No. 2 - Revise the grading and drainage for the proposed pump station site. The revised grading will be required for construction of the proposed pump station to be constructed later this year. By accomplishing the required earthwork at this time, additional costs associated with temporary brow ditches and hydroseeding will be avoided, and less borrow material will be required for the final backfill at the tank. The total cost of Item No. 2 including labor, equipment and subcontractor would amount to $27,874.40. Item No. 3 - Installation of valve stem and air valve in a vertical position rather that at an angle as directed by Field Order No. 5. Installation of the valve stem riser and air valve in a vertical position is required to ensure proper operation of the installed equipment. This change order is required to compensate Commercial Contractors, Inc. for the costs of implementing Field Change Order No. 5. The total cost of Item No. 3 including labor, equipment, materials and subcontractor would amount to $1,705.42. 7 Item No. 4 - Time extension for weather delays. This time extension was requested by Commercial Contractors, Inc. to extend the contract time for days they could not work. This request has been approved by the staff. No additional costs would be involved upon approval of Item No. 4. FISCAL IMPACT The 1989-90 budget amount for this reservoir project plus a subsequent appropriation is $5,493,000.00. The original contract amount totals $5,327,818.36. This change order for $52,264.02 plus previous approved change orders brings the total contract amount to $5,387.416.10. Therefore, there are sufficient monies available for this Change Order No. 6. EXHIBITS 1.
