Requirement of Construction Water to be
Reclaimed or Nonpotable During Stage 1
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 1 7 1 directing staff to require construction water usage to be
reclaimed or nonpotable, if available, during the current Stage 1 Water Watch.
ITEM EXPLANATION
The Water Commission, when recommending that the District declare a Stage 1 Water
Watch with a voluntary 10% reduction, also recommended that reclaimed or nonpotable
water be used for all construction water, if available. This is a condition that is not
currently in the Stage 1 restrictions. The Water Commission would like this condition
implemented at this time as a temporary restriction to be enforced as long as the District
remains in a Stage 1.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact as a result of this action.

RESOLUTION NO. 791
RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT REQUIRING NONPOTABLE OR RECLAIMED WATER
TO BE USED FOR CONSTRUCTION PURPOSES
DURING THE STAGE 1 WATER WATCH
WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Municipal Water District Board of Directors has declared
a Stage 1 Water Watch effective May 6, 1992; and
WHEREAS, the Stage 1 Water Watch asks customers for a 10% voluntary
reduction in water consumption from the base year 1989-90 period; and
WHEREAS, water remains our most precious natural resource and must continue
to be conserved; and
WHEREAS, the use of nonpotable or reclaimed water is encouraged at all times;
and

WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Municipal Water District has reclaimed water available
~ to its customers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of the Carlsbad
i M unicipal Water District that, for as long as the Stage 1 Water Watch remains in effect,
~ nonpotable or reclaimed water must be used for construction purposes, if available.
