RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Staff recommends Board of Directors adopt Resolution No , awarding a bid for the 80 /
Water Meter Replacement Program to Schlumberger Industries/Neptune Division.
ITEM EXPLANATION
This fiscal year will be the third year the Water Division has awarded a bid for the Water
Meter Replacement Program which is an ongoing program to replace old and outdated meters
that have become more difficult to read and sometimes inaccurate over the years. The
1991-92 budget contains $42,000 for this replacement of meters.
In accordance with Section 3.28.120 of the Municipal Code, Notice to Bidders was published
and Request for Bid was made of twenty-one vendors. On June 5, 1992 five (5) responses
were received, opened, witnessed and recorded. Schlumberger Industries/Neptune Division,
11729 Willake Street, Santa Fe Springs, CA 90670, submitted the lowest, most responsive bid
of $30,525 for this program.
FISCAL IMPACT
Unencumbered funds are available in Water Division Account No. 501-840-6320-2489 to cover
the cost of the Water Meter Replacement Program.

A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT, CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA
ACCEPTING A BtD AND AUTHORLZING THE EXECUTION OF A PURCHASE
ORDER FOR THE WATER METER REPLACEMENT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Municipal Water District desires to replace a number of
water meters; and
WHEREAS, the District received five responses to its Request for Bid; and
WHEREAS, the purchase of the replacement meters and services from Schlumberger
Industries/Neptune Division best meets the District’s requirements.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of the Carlsbad
Municipal Water District, Carlsbad, California as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the bid of Schlumberger Industries/Neptune Division, 11725 Willake
Street, Santa Fe Springs, CA 90670 is hereby accepted and the Purchasing
Officer be directed to execute a Purchase Order to Schlumberger
Industries/Neptune Division for the Water Meter Replacement Program in the
amount of $30,525 from Account No. 501-840-6320-2489.
