RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. KL.-. awarding a bid for two hydraulic comminutors (debris
shredders) to J. W. C. Environmental of lrvine, California.
ITEM EXPLANATION
The 1992-93 Sanitation Department budget includes funds for two hydraulic comminutors that
are to be installed at Fox’s pump Station. These Units will replace the existing ones that were
installed during the construction of Fox’s pump station in 1966.
Specifications for the comminutors were developed by the staff of the Sanitation Department
and request for bids was mad8 of four vendors. On August 21, 1992, thr88 bids were
received, Opened and recorded.
The lowest responsive bid for the comminutors was submitted by J. W. C. Environmental,
16802 Aston Street, Suite 200, Irvine, California 92714 in the amount of $41 ,170.OO plus tax,
for a total of $44,360.68.
FISCAL IMPACT
Unencumbered funds are available in th8 Sanitation Department’s Capital Outlay Account, No.
511-6110-3900, for the purchase of the comminutors.

CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A BID AND AUTHORIZING THE
EXECUTION OF A PURCHASE ORDER FOR lVV0
HYDRAULIC COMMINUTORS
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of the
Carlsbad Municipal Water District as follows:
1. That th8 bid of J. W. C. Environmental, 16902 Aston Street, Suite 200,
Irvin8 California 92714, is hereby accepted and the Purchasing Officer is hereby
authorized to execute a Purchase Order for the purchase of two hydraulic comminutors
in th8 amount of $41 ,I 70 plus tax, for a total of $44,360.69.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a meeting of the Carlsbad
Municipal Water District held on the u day of SEPTEMBER , 1992, by the following vote,
to wit:
