RECOMMENDED ACTION:
This is an information item, and no action is required.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The San Diego County Water Authority is in the process of evaluating alternative sites
for an emergency storage reservoir. The purpose of this reservoir is to provide sufficient
emergency water storage capacity to the region so that if there is an interruption of the
county’s imported water supply, there will be another source of water during that time.
The Authority’s Public Affairs department has been making presentations to various
Boards of Directors and City Councils in order to inform them of this issue and provide
a forum for questions. Authority Staff will make a similar presentation to the Board of
Directors at this meeting.
