This is an information item only, and no action is required.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The San Diego County Water Authority is in the process of evaluating thirteen alternative
systems as part of the Emergency Storage Project studies. The purpose of the
Emergency Storage Project is to provide sufficient emergency water storage capacity to
the region so that if there is an interruption in the county’s imported water supply, there
will be another source of water during that time.
The Water Authority is scheduling presentations to update various Boards of Directors
and City Councils in order to keep them informed of this issue and provide a forum for
questions and input. In February of 1993, the Water Authority made its first presentation
to the Carlsbad’s Board about the Emergency Storage Project. This presentation will be
a follow-up to February%.
