RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Staff recommends the Board of Directors adopt Resolution No. 6 8 0 awarding an annual contract for water meters to Schlumberger Industries Inc., for the period from July
1 ,1994 to June 30, 1995, with the option to renew for one l-year period.
ITEM EXPLANATION
The City of Carlsbad purchases various sizes of water meters for domestic, industrial and
agricultural use. In order to take advantage of purchasing in volume, a bid proposal for
annual usage of water meters was developed. In accordance with Section 3.28.120 of the
Municipal Code, Notice to Bidders was published and Request for Bids were sent to eleven
vendors.
On June 8, 1994, six responses were received, opened, witnessed and recorded. Following
the evaluation of the bids by the staff of the Purchasing Department and Carlsbad Municipal
Water District, the lowest responsive bid for the three types of water meters was submitted
by Schlumberger Industries Inc., 25283 Cabot Road #221, Laguna Hills, CA 92679.
FISCAL IMPACT
Estimated cost for these meters in fiscal year 1994-95 is $38,796 plus tax. Although the 1994-
95 operating budget has not been adopted, the Carlsbad Municipal Water District’s Water
Meter and Fittings account has budgeted $157,500 for the proposed 1994-95 budget.

A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT, CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A BID AND AUTHORIZING THE
EXECUTION OF A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THE PURCHASE OF
VARIOUS SIZES OF WATER METERS.
5 WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Municipal Water District desires to purchase a number of water
6 meters; and
7 WHEREAS, bid proposals were submitted by six vendors and judged against known
S criteria.
9 NOW, THEREFORE, BE lT RESOLVED by Board of Directors of the Carlsbad
10 unicipal Water District, Carlsbad, California as follows:
11 1. That the bid of Schlumberger Industries, Inc., 25283 Cabot Road #221, Laguna

-fills, CA 92679 for Items #l, 2 and 3 as shown on Exhibit “2”, is hereby accepted and the
Qrchasing Officer is hereby authorized to execute a purchase order for the purchase of water
14 meters in the amount of 938,796 plus tax for the period of one year beginning July 1, 1994
I5 through June 30, 1995, with the option to renew for one 1 -year period with a price increase not

17 to exceed 3% of the prices in effect at the end of the initial contract period.
