ITEM EXPLANATION:
This item was requested to be placed on the agenda by Commissioner Melideo. The
Commissioners will recall a recent memo from staff regarding curtailment of
Commission reimbursed travel and attendance at conferences, meetings and
seminars due to budgetary constraints.
Commission member Melideo has pointed out to staff that earlier this year the
Commission agreed that she be allowed to attend the Fall ACWA conference.
Recognizing that Commissioner Maerkle and Lewis attended the Spring conference
and that Commissioner Maerkle won a complimentary registration and lodging ticket
to the Fall ACWA conference, Commissioner Melideo is requesting use of that
com p I im entary registration and lodging ticket.
Commissioner Melideo is concerned that the award is actually property of the District
since Commissioner Maerkle attended the spring conference at District expense and
that no formal action has been taken by the Commission regarding which
Commissioner will have use of the complimentary registration and lodging ticket at
the upcoming Fall conference.
Again, Commissioner Melideo has requested this item be placed on the agenda and
she will be speaking further on this issue at the Commission meeting.
