RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. %ol adjusting compensation of Directors as provided under state law.
ITEM EXPLANATION
Compensation for the Board of Directors was established on November 6, 1990 by the Board of Directors at $100 per month. The Board anticipated that meetings would be conducted once per month if possible. That expectation has been exceeded and Board of Directors' meetings have routinely been conducted three or four times per month. State law under Water Code section 71255 permits the Board of Directors to establish compensation at $100 per meeting up to a maximum of $600 per month. Since the Board has been meeting more frequently then anticipated as a result of the increased activity surrounding water policy issues, it is appropriate to adjust allowable compensation.
The attached resolution establishes compensation of the Board of Directors at $100 per meeting up to a maximum of $300 per month.
FISCAL IMPACT
The actual fiscal impact will be dependent on the actual attendance of individual Board members and the actual number of meetings held in any given year. Compensation would be adjusted up to $200 per member per month resulting in an annual cost of approximately $12,000.

RESOLUTION NO. 901
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT TO INCREASE ITS COMPENSATION
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the Carlsbad Municipal
Water District adopted Resolution No. 702 setting the
compensation of its members at $100 per month effective November
6, 1990; and
WHEREAS, it was anticipated that Water Board meetings
would be held once per month if possible; and
WHEREAS, Board has been required to meet more frequently
than once per month; and
WHEREAS, state law pursuant to Water Code section 71255
provides for compensation to members of the Board of Directors of
$100 per meeting up to a maximum of six meetings per month; and
WHEREAS, an appropriate adjustment to compensation should
be made,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors
of the Carlsbad Municipal Water District as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the compensation of the Board of Directors shall
be one hundred dollars ($100) per meeting up to a maximum of $300
per month.
3. That Resolution No. 702 adopted November 6, 1990 is
repealed.

PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the
Board of Directors of the Carlsbad Municipal Water District on
the 16th day of Mav 1995, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Board Members Lewis, Nygaard, Kulchin, Finnila, Hall
NOES: None.
