RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Ordinance No.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
At its meeting of March 19, 1996, the Board of Directors of the Carlsbad Municipal Watl
introduced Ordinance No. 41 dissolving the Water Commission effective January 1, 1 $
Board may now adopt this ordinance upon its second reading and it thereafter becomes
according to law. The Water Commission will be dissolved as of January 1 l 1998 1'
Board repeals this ordinance prior to that date.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Dissolving the Water Commission will eliminate compensation to Water Commission
currently established at $100 per meeting not to exceed $200 per month. There
decrease in staff time necessary to staff the Water Commission but a possible incre
expenditure of staff time to make recommendations now made by the Water Commk

ORDINANCE NO. 41
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT DISSOLVING THE WATER
COMMISSION EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 1998
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the Carls’
Municipal Water District adopted Ordinance No. WB-1 on Janu
2, 1990 establishing the Water Commission; and
WHEREAS, it is not anticipated that the Wa
Commission will be necessary after January 1, 1998,
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Board
Directors of the Carlsbad Municipal Water District as follc
SECTION I : Ordinance No. WB-1 adopted January 2, 1
is hereby amended to establish a sunset date of January 1, 19
The Water Commission shall automatically be dissolved and of
further force and effect on January 1, 1998 unless, sooner t
that time, the Board of Directors adopts an ordinance extenc

EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective
