APPROVAL OF PURCHASE
OF WATER METERS
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Staff recommends the Board of Directors adopt Resolution No. 10 7 q approving the
purchase of water meters to Aqua Metric Sales Company, for the period from July 1, 2000 to
June 30,2001, with the option to renew for four (4) additional one (1) year periods.
ITEM EXPLANATION
The City of Carlsbad purchases various sizes of water meters for domestic, industrial and
agricultural use. In order to take advantage of purchasing in volume, a bid proposal for annual
usage of water meters was developed. In accordance with Section 3.28.120 of the Municipal
Code, Notice to Bidders was published and Request for Bids were sent to three vendors. On
June 6, 2000, three responses were received, opened, witnessed and recorded. The lowest,
responsible bidder submitting a responsive bid was Aqua Metric Sales Company.
FISCAL IMPACT
Estimated cost for these meters in fiscal year 2000-2001 is $160,000. Although the 2000-
2001 operating budget has not been adopted, the Carlsbad Municipal Water Districts Water
Meter and Fittings account has budgeted $160,000 for the expected purchases.
