APPROVAL OF PURCHASE OF WATER METERS

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Staff recommends the Board of Directors adopt Resolution No. 113 1 approving the purchase of
water meters to Schlumberger Resource Management Services Inc, for the period from September
15, 2001 to September 14, 2002, with the option to renew for four (4) additional one (1) year periods. .
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The City of Carlsbad purchases water meters for domestic, industrial and agricultural use. In order to
take advantage of purchasing in volume, a bid proposal for annual usage of water meters was
developed. In accordance with Section 3.28.120 of the Municipal Code, Notice to Bidders was
published and Request for Bids were sent to eight vendors. On August 28, 2001, four responses
were received, opened, witnessed and recorded. The bid requested prices for five different sizes of
meters with estimated annual purchase quantities provided. A tabulation of the bids follows:

FISCAL IMPACT:
The Carlsbad Municipal Water District’s Meter and Fittings account has sufficient funds for the expected
purchases.
