CONSTRUCTION OF THE LAKE CALAVERA
REMEDIAL IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT NO 3821-1

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No.1341 _ accepting the contract for construction of the Lake Calavera
Remedial Improvements, Project No. 3821-1, as complete, and directing the Secretary to record a
Notice of Completion and release bonds in accordance with State Law and City Ordinances.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On March 30, 2007, Vadnais Corporation was awarded a contract in the amount of $4,150,170 for the
construction of the Lake Calavera Remedial Improvements, Project No. 3821-1.
Vadnais Corporation completed the contract work on August 19, 2008. Staff has inspected the work
and found it to be satisfactory. Staff recommends formal acceptance of the improvements by the
Board.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
The approval of a Notice of Completion is a ministerial process and is exempt from the requirements
of CEQA pursuant to Section 15268 of the State CEQA Guidelines.

A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
3 CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT (CMWD),
ACCEPTING THE CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE
4 LAKE CALAVERA REMEDIAL IMPROVEMENTS, PROJECT NO.
3821-1.

WHEREAS, the construction of the Lake Calavera Remedial Improvements was
6
completed on August 19, 2008; and
7
WHEREAS, all work has been completed to the Carlsbad Municipal Water District's
8
satisfaction by Vadnais Corporation; and
9
WHEREAS, all project costs have been established to date.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Carlsbad Municipal Water District Board11
of the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows:

1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
13 2. That the contract for the construction of the Lake Calavera Remedial
14 Improvements, Project No. 3821-1 is deemed complete and is hereby accepted by the Board of
Directors of Carlsbad Municipal Water District.
16 3. The Secretary of the Board is hereby authorized and directed to execute and
17 record the Notice of Completion for the Lake Calavera Remedial Improvements, Project No.
18 3821-1.
